I had my first appointment with and Endocrinologist this week. Given how many hormonal issues I've had before, I'm not sure why I didn't go sooner!!! Anyway, was well worth it. I went to review my HRT and thyroid medications - something that will be ongoing in the management of Menopause and Hashimoto's.
The specialist informed me that thyroid challenges can present in women who are post menopausal due to the drop in oestrogen levels. In the case of surgical Menopause like I experienced, the drop is sudden and high. So it seems that there can be a correlation between the two and thyroid function can be measured with a simple blood test. All you need is a referral from your GP.
