I am not a doctor so the advice I am passing on is from my personal experience only. As some of you may know I have Hashimoto's (Thyroid Disease) as well as being in Early Menopause. For the last two years, I have been taking Thyroxine (T4) for the Hashi's and have Oestrogen only HRT due to the fact I no longer have a uterus.
I gained a significant amount of weight (nearly 30kg's) since being sick - a combination of illness, Thyroid challenges and being in Menopause I suspect. Anyway, no matter what I do, I just can't shift it and often feel very ‘fluidy’! This week, following a consultation with an endocrinologist, I began a small dose of T3 to help my Thyroid. It has already had a positive impact on my weight and 'bulginess'. I also have some more energy.
Simultaneously, following the specialists recommendation, I have changed the dose of my Thyroxine and instead of wearing an oestrogen patch, I am now taking it orally so these variations could also be contributing to the positive changes in my body and hormonal system. I did experience some headaches and 'teariness' through the week that could be associated with the medication changes. That's all settled down now though.
I have seen many, many doctors about my Hashi's and HRT and not one of them suggested T3. I'm mentioning it to you as it may be relevant to your health care.
As always, happy to share any other info that may be helpful to you!
