After compiling some new information in regard to infertility for the AEMN website, I was struck by how challenging these three processes are in Oz. I learnt that surrogacy is illegal in most Australian states and many people going down this path are heading to the USA or India. My understanding is that the average adoption takes approx four years and in Victoria you now need a police check to have IVF. Not to mention the financial, time, energy, relationship and emotional costs associated with becoming parent/s using any of these processes! Being infertile is hard enough.
Any thoughts on what can be done?
